Flu



Herbs.
  • The immune-enhancing herb echinacea root.
  • Heat-relieving herbs, such as yarrow leaf, elder flower, and peppermint leaf.
  • When the flu includes respiratory difficulties, add usnea lichen, yerba santa leaf, and osha root to combat the infection and help expel mucus from the lungs.

Herb Formulas. Simmer 1 teaspoon each of echinacea root, Oregon grape root, osha root, elder flower, and yerba mansa root in 4 cups water for 20 minutes. Drink 1 cup of the tea 2 or 3 times daily before meals. Or, mix 1 teaspoon each of the individual tinctures in 1 cup of water and drink 1/2 cup, twice daily.
