Coughs
Herbs.
- For dry coughs, use soothing herbs, such as marshmallow root, flax seed, mullein leaf, and Irish moss.
- For wet coughs, use expectorant herbs, such as yerba santa leaf, yerba mansa root, and lobelia leaf and flower.
- Look for herbal cough syrups containing loquat leaf, horehound leaf, and/or wild cherry bark.
Herb Formulas. For dry coughs, simmer 1 teaspoon each licorice root, mullein leaf, and Irish moss in 4 cups water for 20 minutes. Drink 1 cup of the tea 2 or 3 times daily. For wet coughs, combine grindelia flower, yerba santa leaf, and wild cherry bark, and follow the same directions.
