Herbs.
  • Make a tea of fresh ginger root and apply it hot with a wash rag to the affected area 2 or 3 times daily.
  • Apply any of the following externally: St. John's wort oil, cayenne liniment, or one of the pain-relieving essential oil herbs like chamomile, rosemary, or camphor.

Herb Formula. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of the oils of wintergreen, cinnamon, and ginger in 1/2 cup of aloe gel and add a teaspoon of gum arabic. Shake well and apply to the painful area twice a day. Add more aloe gel to the formula if you experience redness or irritation of the skin.
